Cassandra Mathews is an exceptional classical guitarist and highly accomplished musician, perfect for wedding ceremonies, drinks receptions, welcome drinks, private events and elegant celebrations.
With a beautifully refined sound and an outstanding level of technical skill, Cassandra brings warmth, sophistication and atmosphere to every performance. Her solo guitar music is particularly well suited to wedding receptions and welcome drinks, creating an elegant and relaxed backdrop while guests arrive, mingle and enjoy the moment.
A graduate of the Royal College of Music, Cassandra studied classical guitar with Gary Ryan and obtained a First Class Honours Bachelor of Music. She has also received coaching from Chris Stell, with additional lessons from Craig Ogden and Jakob Lindberg on the lute. Her training, musical sensitivity and performance experience make her a truly exceptional choice for couples looking for refined live music for their wedding day.
Cassandra has performed throughout the UK as both a soloist and ensemble musician, with appearances and collaborations including the Royal Albert Hall, Music in Hospitals and Care, Wigmore Hall, the V&A Museum, the London Film Museum, Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Purcell Room. She has also performed at the Instituto Cervantes, where she played works by celebrated guitar composer Joaquín Rodrigo for his daughter, Cecilia Rodrigo.
Her career includes a wide range of classical, contemporary and collaborative projects. In 2024, she formed Duo Madrugada with soprano Emily Jennings, performing original arrangements for voice and guitar at venues including 1901 Arts Club, Bristol Cathedral and The Green Note. Since 2025, Cassandra has also performed on guitar, vocals and mandolin with In the Dark, an experimental immersive concert series performed in complete darkness. She is also the current mandolin player in Nysiades, the resident electronic music group at Bacchanalia, Mayfair.
During her time at the Royal College of Music, Cassandra performed in masterclasses with John Williams, Carlos Bonell, Jason Vieaux and Julian Byzantine. She was the winner of the Lennox Berkeley Guitar Prize in 2012 and received Highly Commended awards in the Royal College of Music Guitar Competition in both 2012 and 2014.
