Following a successful, action-packed festival season, sell out headline shows & the release of their highly acclaimed EP, Pattern Pusher are now in the studio with producer Jamie Evans recording their debut album, slated for release in 2023. The new material, described as “Modern Vintage”, retains the band’s upbeat infectious positivity, while embracing a fresh energy and edge inspired by
traumatic personal life events and deep soul searching.

The band have come of age, finding an authentic and current sound with nods toward 90s BritPop. Pattern Pusher have been championed by BBC Radio 6, Radio 2 and this year were named as one of BBC Introducing’s “Ones to watch”. The trio have been praised for one of the most energetic, happy and feel-good live shows on the scene and were cited as one of NME’s hidden gems due to
their barnstorming performances at Boardmasters.

BBC Intro’s Sarah Gosling likened them to Jamiroquai, Hot Chip and Bombay Bicycle Club. They have had recent syncs on Comedy Central, Sky and a ‘Young Sheldon’ trailer. They have featured on British Airways in-flight playlists as well as on the official Formula 1 and Liverpool FC Spotify playlists. Pattern Pusher also won the Glastonbury’s ‘Emerging Talent Competition’ judged by Michael Eavis and went on to support Wolf Alice and Supergrass at Pilton.

Fronted by Alex Johnstone on the keys, whose soaring soulful vocals are evocative of Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles, Benny G gives his wild energy to the bass and Benny C’s grooving drum rhythms underpin an unconventional line up with a classic sound. Alex Johnstone says of the forthcoming album “This past year is hard to put into words. There have been some incredible highs and some very deep lows. I experienced grief with the loss of my inspirational father, a beautiful relationship ended, but there was also elation as positives began to emerge from the darkness and we enjoyed the most incredible reaction from audiences over the summer. My world was smashed into little pieces and now I’m painting the walls white and starting again. I’ve never been more grateful to have an outlet of song writing and recording with the band. The new songs are especially resonant as they have come from the heart. The studio has been this beautiful sanctuary where we’ve laughed, cried and created music that I never thought was capable of us. Working with our producer Jamie we have honed our sound, and even when coming from my darkest moments, the songs still shine with an optimism that typifies the Pattern Pusher spirit. We all hope you enjoy the journey and cannot wait to share this album with you as it feels like the culmination of all we have learned and experienced”.
